I've been stuck for a while. Not in an obvious way. I had a job, I showed up, I did the work. But something about it never fit. The metrics measured the wrong things. Good judgment got flagged the same as bad judgment, as long as it deviated from the script. Most of what I was actually good at never came up, because most of what the job needed from me wasn't that.

I didn't say much about it. Just kept going, the way you do.

Then I got a callback for a second interview I wasn't expecting. I'd already half written it off. When the email came in, I remember feeling caught off guard more than anything, a kind of disbelief that didn't fully register until I was already replying to it.

The interview itself was longer than it needed to be, in the good way. Real conversation, not a script either of us was reading from. I left it not knowing what would happen, which is its own particular kind of waiting.

A week later, I had an offer. I signed it this morning.

What I feel now is harder to name cleanly. Elation, some of it. Relief, more of it than I expected. And underneath both of those, something quieter: hope, actually pointed at something, for the first time in a while.

I don't know exactly what comes next. But I know it's not where I was.
